TAROT is a digital content service. Star top-ups are governed by the Korean E-Commerce Consumer Protection Act and Content Industry Promotion Act. By completing payment, you agree to this policy.
1. Eligible Refund Cases
1.1 Unused Stars
If you have not spent any star from the purchased package, a full refund is available within 7 days of payment. Welcome bonus stars are gratuitous and excluded.
1.2 Partially Used Packages — Partial Refund
Within 7 days of payment, a partial refund applies when some stars have been spent (including reading unlocks). The formula:
Refund = paid amount − (stars used × per-star deduction rate)
The deduction rate equals the highest per-star price among current standard packages (limited-time launch packages excluded). ₩634 per star as of 2026-05-02; any change is posted here.
Example: Purchased a 99-star package for ₩27,900 and used 5 stars before requesting a refund — Refund = 27,900 − (5 × 634) = ₩24,730
This prevents users from buying a large package, spending a small portion, then refunding to effectively get a smaller package's per-star rate. If used stars exceed the package size, the refund is ₩0.
1.3 Time-Limited Product (30-Day Pass) Refunds
The 30-Day Pass grants stars at purchase and then grants more stars on each day you visit. The total number of stars you receive is not fixed at purchase — it depends on how many days you came back. For this reason the flat per-star deduction rate in 1.2 does not apply. Refunds are calculated from the stars you actually received:
Refund = Amount paid × (unused stars ÷ stars actually received)
Stars actually received means the stars granted at purchase plus the daily grants you had claimed up to that point. Stars for days remaining in the term, which you have not yet received, are excluded from the calculation.
Example: You buy the pass for ₩14,900, claim 16 daily stars over 8 days for a total of 45, and have spent 10 — Refund = 14,900 × (35 ÷ 45) = ₩11,588
When a refund is issued, both the stars granted at purchase and the daily stars claimed under that pass are reclaimed, and daily grants for the remaining term stop at that point. If you bought an additional pass while one was still active, each payment is settled separately against the stars received under it.
The 7-day window, minor-without-consent, and system-error provisions apply the same as for one-off packages.
1.4 Service Defects — Partial Refund Beyond 7 Days
Even after the 7-day window, partial refunds (using the 1.2 formula) may be considered for:
- Interpretation content materially different from what was advertised
- Recurring failure to generate readings or repeated errors
- Other material defects preventing normal use
1.5 System Errors — Full Refund
Refunded in full regardless of usage:
- Double charges, incorrect amounts, payment-system errors
- Payment completed but stars not credited
- Unauthorized transactions made without your explicit consent
1.6 Minors (Under 19)
Minors under 19 who paid without legal guardian consent may have the guardian or the minor themselves request cancellation per Korean Civil Code. Required:
- Legal guardian's photo ID
- Family relation certificate or equivalent
- Receipt or payment record
2. Non-Refundable Cases
- Deduction amount for spent stars (per the 1.2 formula)
- Welcome bonus, event rewards, or any gratuitous stars
- Requests filed more than 7 days after payment — except 1.4 defects
- Simple change of mind after the 7-day window
- Remaining stars on accounts suspended for terms violations
- Stars auto-expired after the 1-year validity window (see 2-1)
2-1. Star Validity and Expiry Notice
- Validity period: Purchased stars are valid for 1 year from the charge date. This is a voluntary shortening aligned with PG (payment processor) review policy and card-network merchant standards; within the window, stars can be spent on service usage at no additional cost.
- Expiry: Stars past the 1-year validity expire automatically and are not eligible for refund or cash conversion. Gratuitous stars (welcome bonus, event rewards) follow their own stated validity (typically shorter) and are consumed before purchased stars.
- Expiry notice: At least 30 days before expiry, we notify the account email and via in-service notification with (i) the quantity of expiring stars, (ii) the expiry date, and (iii) how to spend them in the remaining window. No refund or extension obligation arises for stars that expire unused after this notice.
- Consumption order (FIFO): Stars are consumed oldest-charge-first, so stars closer to expiry are used first and automatic expiry is minimized.
3. How to Request a Refund
- Fill out the support form.
- Choose Refund and sign in. Once you're signed in with the account you paid from, we pull up your payment history for you.
- Then tell us:
- Which payment to refund (pick it from the list we pulled up)
- Reason for refund
- Last 4 digits of the card used (for identification, optional)
- Reviewed and answered to your account email within 3 business days. Where documents are required (see 1.6, payments by minors), we'll ask for them in that reply.
4. Processing Time and Method
- Refunds are issued only to the original payment card. Bank transfers and other methods are not supported.
- Processing varies by provider:
- Korean payments (PortOne) — card cancellation. Typically 3–7 business days for the card statement to update.
- International payments (Paddle) — card refund. Typically 5–14 business days.
- Full refunds automatically reclaim the credited stars; partial refunds deduct per the 1.2 formula. If your balance is short at refund time (e.g., already spent on other items), the shortfall is additionally deducted from the refund.
5. Dispute Resolution
If you disagree with our decision, you may file a dispute with Korea Consumer Agency, the E-Commerce Dispute Mediation Committee, or relevant authorities. You may also pursue a chargeback directly via the payment provider (PortOne or Paddle) or your card issuer; usage records will be reviewed under this policy in those cases as well.
6. Policy Changes
This policy may change as required by law or service operation. Material changes will be announced via in-service notice or email at least 7 days before the effective date. Completed payments remain governed by the policy in effect at the time of payment.
